If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, a soft phone is a piece of software that sits on your phone, desktop or laptop in the form of an app that allows you to send or receive calls – just like a regular phone.
All you need is a connection to the internet.
For anyone who has used Skype before on their desktop or smart phone, using a soft phone is very similar, just with better voice quality.
If you’re using a VOIP phone system, your soft phone simply uses the extension associated with the account and staff can just plug in a headset to get started. You can even access your address book and recent calls just the way they would if they were sitting in the office.
Likewise, call recordings, conference calls, hunting lines, call forwarding are all part of the normal functionality and all calls are recorded as per normal in your phone system call logs.
