What Happens If Your Business Misses The NBN Cut Off

What Happens If Your Business Misses The NBN Cut Off?

My youngest kid finished Year 12 recently. And watching her study, I realised she’d inherited some of my scholastic habits.

Unfortunately they weren’t the good ones! Like her old man, my daughter leaves all her projects and exam study till the last minute. Luckily both of us managed to scrape through somehow.

Maybe a crisis focuses the mind. But it’s a stressful way to live.

We can all leave some things to the last minute.

So what do my observations about swotting have to do with your business communications?

Planning beats panic

Well the point is that just as school projects and exams have a due date, so does the transition to the NBN.

And if you leave your preparation to the last minute, your transition might fail, so to speak.

Now I’m not suggesting that you personally are the last-minute type. I’m sure you’re very organised.

But perhaps you know someone in your company who would rather put off until tomorrow what they can do today.

If you do have such a colleague, and that person is responsible for your transition to the NBN, it might be time to check if they’ve done their homework.

Because if you miss your NBN cut off date the consequences are much greater than a stern talking to from your maths teacher.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

If you haven’t made your phone lines to be NBN ready before the NBN switchover takes place you will lose all your telephone numbers.

And unlike school there are no extensions, no comp passes and no chances to resubmit.

No amount of pleading, no amount of ‘the dog ate my NBN paperwork’ will get you your numbers back.

Lost number equals lost business

Imagine the impact on your business if that happened.

Think of the business you’ll lose if clients can’t reach you.

Plus there’s the hassle and cost of ordering new phone numbers and having them programmed into your phone system.

Then you’ll have to update the details on your website and reprint your letter heads and your business cards. The list goes on.

Do it now

If you’ve already received letters from the NBN co about switching, then now is the time to act before it’s too late.

And even if the NBN isn’t coming to your area just yet, we can still make your phone lines NBN ready provided you have an internet connection.

By converting to an NBN-ready phone system now, can you save 40 to 60% of your call costs.

And you’ll enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that your company’s phone numbers are safe.

Need more help?

So that’s the end of my lecture. I hope I didn’t sound too much like a school master. But as you can see, there are good reasons why you should get your phones NBN ready.

So how do you do it?

Well the next step is to speak to one of our NBN experts who can explain how your business can prepare for the switch over.
